How it all began
Aartsenfruit Kids Foundation was established in 2007 by Jack and Hellen Aartsen in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the fruit and vegetable import company aartsenfruit. During the first few years, Aartsenfruit Kids Foundation was primarily working and volunteering within the community assisting various home projects, extending a helping hand to children in need of encouragement.
During the period 2007 through to 2014 we honored some hundred requests for assistance. If something needed to be done we literally rolled up our sleeves providing help and assitance, for example redecorating and refurnishing a child's room where it seemd impossible for parents and families to do so.
From 2014 onward, AKF’s goal has been to contribute on a larger scale to the health and well-being of children in general. In order to realise this, the focus of the foundation has shifted from providing direct assistance through goods and services to setting up and implementing AKF’s own projects.
During a period of refocus, AKF’s ambitions continued to take shape and evolved into the ‘stOerGelukkig’, Your 'Core-Happiness' philosophy. From 2015 onward AKF has initiated various projects under this umbrella.
